Why Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Every year 1 in 4 of us will experience some form of Mental Health issue

The aim of the MHFA course is to demystify the whole topic of mental health, mental health issues and mental illness, to increase mental health literacy, and to decrease the stigma.

Participants on this course may be the very first early intervention for a person developing a mental health issue or they may find themselves with a person who may be in mental health crisis. Just like physical first aid, this course does not teach people or qualify them to be the professional, the therapist, the counsellor or the diagnostician, it does provide the knowledge and skills at a level for any adult member of the public who wishes to give initial first aid or assistance.

MHFA England instructor training programme is accredited

by the Royal Society for Public Health and is the

only licenced provider in England.
